Organisers of The Headies have postponed the 18th edition of the Nigerian music awards to April 10 and 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.
The ceremony was originally scheduled to hold this year, but the organisers announced the change in a statement shared on the awards’ official Instagram page.
According to the statement, the postponement will allow for an expanded programme of activities in Nigeria and Canada ahead of the main ceremony in Toronto.
“The road to the 18th Headies continues. We’re expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of our Toronto finale, now scheduled for April 10 and 11, 2027,” the statement read.
The organisers added that activities under the Road to The Headies programme would continue during the original event period, with further details to be announced through their official channels.
They also apologised to guests who had already made travel plans and other arrangements for the ceremony.
“To guests who have already made travel plans and other arrangements, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Further programme updates and guest information will be shared here,” the statement added.
The 18th edition of The Headies is expected to celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to African music.
